Third Shop & Gallery

BEAUTIFUL & MINIMAL

I founded Pentper in 2012, in a small shop, in a small seaside Nova Scotian town. The general idea was to sell globally sourced, beautifully designed, ethically made, personal and household products. With perseverance the lifestyle shop proudly grew to include wares from Malin+Goetz (US), Klippan (SE), Uashmama (AU), Harlow (CA), Fleet Objects (CA), Falcon Enamelware (UK) Sort of Coal (DK), The Laundress (UK), Spe (IE), Woodlot (CA), Granted Clothing (CA), Izola (US), Shwood (US), Gharyan (CA), Picot (CA), Smash Prints (CA), Namous (LT), Linen Way (CA), Steve Wallin Furniture (CA), Blacksaw (CA), Jaw Pottery X Pentper (CA), M&Co Watches (US), Bellroy (AU), Chemex (US), Fog Linen Work (JP), Sandqvist (SE), Another Country (UK), Skandinavisk (DK), Raen Eyeware (US), Fox Hound Collection (CA), Hario (JP), Areaware (US), Rains Clothing (DK), OVO Things (LT), Ocean Clock (FR), Minimum Design (FR), Kalita (JP), Libertine Libertine (DK), Playtype (DK), Charlotte&Castel (CA), Calepino (FR), Sunday Dry Goods (CA), Iris Hantverk (SE), Maruasa (JP), Lorraine Tuson Design (CA), Kinto (JP), Eva Solo (DK), Tall Pines (CA), Stanfeilds (CA), Lohn (CA), Norfolk Natural Living (UK), Phaidon Publishing (UK), Upstate Stock (US) and Morihata (JP).

Through the shop I supported local artists and makers and collaborated in design to sell our wares. For eleven years I spoke to thousands of international and local customers to help promote my community, country, my business and support all that is arts and culture. Pentper is a proudly Canadian/Nova Scotian brand that is now known internationally and has become synonymous with good design.

In 2022 Pentper (the shop) became Pentper Gallery and the retail portion of the business was gently set aside. The gallery’s representation of contemporary art has been provincially second to none and has seen steady growth and success. Unfortunately the Burns Block building that housed Pentper Gallery was listed for sale and now is the time to look for a new location. Change is always exciting and the winter season will be used to find the perfect space for reopening in 2024.

Pentper’s DNA is beautiful, minimal design. By way of the shop and gallery I have been fortunate to have worked on interior, graphic and website design as an extension of the brands design ethos. Pentper Digital is officially a new department for the brand and one I would love to grow alongside Pentper Gallery moving forward.
